PREREQUISITES FOR CLASS:

1. MUST HAVE COMPLETED PEER SUPPORT WITHIN THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE: FORENSIC PEER SUPPORT CLASS SUCCESSFULLY.

2. MUST HAVE PERSONAL LIVED EXPERIENCE WITHIN THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE FIELD.

3. MUST BE IN GOOD STANDING WITH THE PCB BOARD AS A CRS OR CPS.


In this 3-day, 18-hour in-person course, individuals will use their lived experience of being involved in the criminal justice system and previous training from the Peer Support within the Criminal Justice: Forensic Peer Support class to develop skills to train individuals to become Forensic Peer Supports. Individuals will learn how to co-facilitate a training through skill building exercises with their peers, classroom instruction, and finally by teaching a piece of the Forensic Peer Support class material. This class is limited to a maximum of 20 students that demonstrate leadership in their field, a desire to learn, and a willingness to share their story of recovery openly.

Learning Objectives:

: • Identify personal strengths and skill development regarding the process and content of facilitating the PA Peer Support within Criminal Justice System, 3 day training curriculum

• Review skill set for trainers who facilitate learning experiences for others

• Identify specific skills/resources needed by those facilitating the forensic peer support training curriculum

• Prepare and teach a small part of the PA Peer Support within the Criminal Justice System, 3-day curriculum.


Cost is $270 for members; $300 for non-members.

You must be commit to being present in the classroom for all three days (18 hours of instruction) to receive your certification.
