PULSE – PEER UNDERSTANDING,
LEADERSHIP, SUPPORT,
BY EMPOWERMENT

The PULSE Program

The PULSE Program empowers youth and young adults to build wellness, resilience, and confidence through a recovery‑oriented model grounded in lived experience. Every participant is supported by Certified Peer Professionals, known within the program as PULSE Peer Specialists, who draw from their own journeys in child‑ and adult‑serving systems. This lived expertise allows the team to offer support that is authentic, empathetic, and deeply relatable..

What PULSE Offers

PULSE walks alongside youth and young adults as they navigate major life transitions and complex systems such as Children and Youth Services, Independent Living Programs, and Juvenile Probation Offices. Support is flexible and person‑centered, meeting each young person exactly where they are and helping them move toward where they want to be.

How Peer Support Helps

PULSE Peer Specialists provide guidance, encouragement, and practical tools that help participants strengthen coping skills and emotional resilience, build confidence and self‑advocacy, navigate systems and access resources, set and pursue personal goals, and move forward with hope, clarity, and direction. Because this support comes from peers who have faced similar challenges, the connection feels genuine and empowering, creating a foundation of trust that helps young people grow, heal, and thrive.

Person-Centered Support

PULSE uses a youth- and young-adult driven model where participants’ goals, strengths, and lived experiences guide the work. Certified Peer Professionals provide relatable, real-world support that meets young people where they are.

Evidence-Informed Peer Services

Peer support is widely recognized around the world as a key component of recovery for people experiencing mental health challenges. Studies show that increased involvement with peer specialists is associated with reduced psychiatric symptoms and stronger long-term recovery.

Tools for Transition & Recovery

Through PULSE, youth and young adults gain tools and resources to navigate the transition into adulthood. The team-based approach offers guidance, emotional support, and practical assistance to help participants achieve recovery-focused, self-defined outcomes.
