Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of people who use drugs? This training, based on SAMHSA's principles of harm reduction, is designed to equip you with the knowledge and tools to support individuals in your community effectively.

9 am - 4:30 pm each day

This training targets unique and practical ways to engage and share empathic mental health support, reduce isolation, ease developmental angsts, help clarify confusions, build practical skills and pursue life roles that meet youth’s needs in the ways that matter. Individuals, in the metamorphic identity shift from youth to adult with mental health-social emotional disorders – Raising voices, choices, and supports for a personal youth-quake! This training curriculum was thoughtfully co-developed in collaboration with Drexel University. Certificate is provided.

• • Discuss the peer -to-peer code of ethical conduct and boundaries to support positive youth development

  • Define youth/young-adult growth in the context of Aces and Assets [what impacts healthy adult development and sources of strength and wellbeing

  • Review guidelines, differences and strategies to offer safe and sensitive supports during crisis and emergency situations

  • Examine the many facets of wellness, self-care states and strategies

  • Introduce a template to welcome, engage and effectively support active participate in the recovery, resilience processes and strong adult passages  

  • Develop and present an innovative 7-minute YaYA Welcoming Plan

Our course teaches participants how to practice social media wellness, offers tips to manage excessive social media use, and identifies resources that can help reduce mental health conditions/risk factors. Certificate is provided.

Region 5 Recovery Hub Training Symposium

Join us on January 21, 2027, at PaTTAN Central (6340 Flank Drive, Harrisburg, PA) for a dynamic day of learning, connection, and community building.

This Training Symposium brings together peers, providers, advocates, and community members from across Region 5 to share knowledge, strengthen partnerships, and advance recovery-focused supports.

Attendees will have the opportunity to:

• Connect with others in mental health and recovery communities
• Learn practical tools and strategies from experienced presenters
• Explore resources and services from local vendors and organizations
• Engage in conversations that support innovation in care and access

Sessions will highlight important focus areas including peer support, transitional age youth, forensic and justice-involved populations, rural and telehealth access, transportation solutions, and trauma-informed approaches.

Whether you are a professional, peer, advocate, or community member, this event is designed to inspire, inform, and strengthen recovery across our region.
